The Rain in Spain

The Rain in Spain Sophie Dunér © 2000

Once upon a time

I was bigger than life.

I had my coffee black, no milk.

Then you saw me standing

So high on that mountain.

Then you saw me falling

The curtain was closing.

I saw myself

through binoculars’ eyes.

The camera was rolling,

It was all in the past.

Then my second self

Came along to enlighten me.

She said to myself,

It was all about a theft.

Here come the rain drops falling.

I saw my mirror crashing.

Truth slaps my face, I’m calling

For oxygen and water.

Once upon a time

I was smarter than life.

I had my mind

In front of my eyes.

Then you came along

So free to insult me.

You said to yourself

What a waste of a life.

I thought I knew

All there was to know.

I thought I’d crossed the limits.

But my circle was closed.

Then my second self came along to confess to me.

She said to myself it was all ´bout a lie.

Here come the rain drops falling.

I saw my mirror crashing

Truth slaps my face, I’m calling

For oxygen and water

For oxygen and water

For oxygen and water

For oxygen and water …
